In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? We share data with Google (AI processing), Paddle (payments), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error tracking), Convex (infrastructure), and Resend (email delivery). See Section 3 for details on each.

How do we keep your information safe? We have organizational and technical processes and procedures in place to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

What are your rights? You can access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us. If you're in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to data portability, to restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. See Section 7 for details.

How do you exercise your rights? The easiest way to exercise your rights is by contacting us at support@cookt.io. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

In Short: We collect your email, your name (if you sign in with Google), and the recipe content you create in the app.

Here is what we collect and why:
  • email addresses
  • names (when you sign in with Google, your name may be provided by your Google account)
  • billing and subscription information (plan type, billing cycle, subscription status)
  • recipe content you upload or create (text, images, documents, URLs)
  • messages you send to the AI assistant (Sous-chef)
Authentication: You can sign in using Google OAuth (single sign-on) or a passwordless magic link sent to your email. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from your Google account. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Note: Payment details (credit card numbers, bank details) are collected and processed directly by Paddle.com Market Ltd and are never stored on our servers.

Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.

2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.

We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
  • To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts.
  • To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We may process your information to provide you with the requested service.
  • To save or protect an individual's vital interest. We may process your information when necessary to save or protect an individual's vital interest, such as to prevent harm.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions. We share limited information with our payment processor to facilitate billing.
  • To enforce usage limits. We track AI feature usage counts (number of recipe imports, number of chat messages) to enforce plan limits and display usage information to you.

3. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

In Short: We may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with the following third parties.

We may need to share your personal information in the following situations:
  • Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
  • Payment Processing. We share your email address and internal user identifier with Paddle.com Market Ltd, who acts as our Merchant of Record for all paid transactions. Paddle processes payments, handles invoicing, manages tax compliance, and issues refunds on our behalf. Paddle may collect additional information directly from you during checkout (such as payment details and billing address).   • AI Processing. When you import a recipe or use the Sous-chef chat assistant, your recipe content (text, ingredients, chat messages, and content fetched from URLs you provide) is sent to third-party AI services for processing. This includes recipe extraction, formatting, ingredient parsing, and image generation. We currently use Google Gemini, but may also use OpenAI or Anthropic. We do not send your email address or account information to AI providers.
  • Analytics. We use PostHog (EU-hosted) to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. PostHog collects usage data such as pages visited, features used, and interactions with the Service. We identify your account in PostHog by your user ID and email address to provide support and debug issues. PostHog may set cookies on your device.   • Error Tracking. We use Sentry to detect and fix bugs. When an error occurs, Sentry may capture technical information about the error, your user ID, and a recording of the session in which the error occurred (with all text masked and media blocked for privacy).   • Infrastructure. Your data (recipes, account information, files) is stored on Convex, our database and backend provider. The app is hosted on Cloudflare. See Convex's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Email Delivery. We use Resend to send transactional emails (such as magic link sign-in emails). Resend receives your email address for the purpose of delivering these emails. See Resend's Privacy Policy at https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

4. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information.

Billing and transaction records (subscription history, payment events, invoices) are retained for a minimum of 7 years after the last transaction for legal, tax, and accounting compliance, even if you delete your account.

5. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

6. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

In Short: We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand how you use our Service.

We use the following cookies and tracking technologies:
  • Session cookies: Essential cookies that keep you signed in to your account. These are set when you log in and are required for the Service to function.
  • Analytics cookies: PostHog sets cookies to distinguish unique users and track sessions. These help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
Most web browsers accept cookies by default. You can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies, but this may prevent you from using the Service.

7. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.

Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at support@cookt.io.

Account Information: If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can contact us using the contact information provided. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases.
